HOW DOES LASER HAIR REMOVAL WORK?

The laser device emits pulses of light energy that penetrates the skin and destroys hair follicles while the devices hand piece cools the surrounding skin. Treatment of dark, coarse hair generally achieves the best results while removal of light, fine hair may require additional treatments.

Laser hair removal procedures involve a series of treatments in which ideal candidates with light skin and dark hair can achieve up to 90% reduction of hair in 6-12 sessions. Thicker skinned areas such as mens backs, faces or necks usually require more than 6 sessions. After treatment it generally takes 10-21 days for the treated hair to fall out.

HOW DO I PREPARE FOR LASER TREATMENT?

Being that the Laser needs to fill the hair follicle to work as effectively as possible, it is important you do not wax or tweeze the area 2-4 weeks prior to the treatment. Any photosensitizing medications should be discontinued 7 days before your treatment. Tanning should also be discontinued 4 weeks before treatment. Use of topical Retinols, AHAs and BHAs are asked to be put on hold 5 days before treatment.

IS LASER HAIR REMOVAL RIGHT FOR ME?

Pregnancy, Nursing or planning to become pregnant undergoing Laser Hair Removal treatments. Individuals who have used Accutane within the past 6 months. Any other photosensitizing medications taken 7 days before treatment. Skin that has recently been tanned by either the sun or self tanning products. The laser may not be effective on red, blonde or gray hair.

HOW DO I TAKE CARE OF MY SKIN AFTER LASER TREATMENT?

We recommend treating your skin like a sunburn after treatment. We advise limiting sun exposure after the treatment, using protective sunscreen lotion and limiting any extra heat in the area that was treated. Aloe is recommended if needed after treatment to help cool down the skin. Redness and welting post procedure is the most common side effect and usually subsides within 24-48 hours of the treatment. Please call your doctor if any complications develop
